THE GOOD

Boyz N The Hood (1991)

John Singleton directed the tragic-yet-realistic flick in which Cube made his on-screen debut. Not much of a stretch, here—Cube plays a South Central gangsta—but it’s nonetheless a hood cinema classic that makes us want to bring back our Jheri curls every time we watch.

Friday (1995)

First-time tokes and beating a bully with a brick are all in a day’s worth in this DVD collection staple.

Higher Learning (1995)

Cube takes the fight-the-power attitude of his music to academia as Fudge, the street-smart but educated brother who wouldn’t tolerate racism.

Three Kings (1999)

Cube is no longer spelling his home country ‘Amerikkka’. Mr. O’Shea Jackson suits up in fatigues alongside Mark Wahlberg and George Clooney for this Gulf War film.

Lottery Ticket (Summer 2010)

An unexpectedly tolerable movie gets amplified by Ice Cube’s cameo appearance—a fight scene that nearly rivals his throw-down with Deebo.
